Player Pathway – Coaches Online Resource

Cuala have published their Player Pathway guidelines and coaching examples via cualaonline.ie. It is available to all mentors/coaches via an individual login.

The aim of this website is to document technical, tactical, physical and team related attributes/characteristics a player should be able to demonstrate/perform as they progress through the five stages of game development.

While it provides coaches/mentors with some examples of drills and skill tests to use with their teams it is not a comprehensive list of such activities. It includes examples of nursery football, hurling, camogie games and drills, organisation and discipline tips.

This Player Pathway has been developed using established aims, objectives, content, models, session plans and skills testing from various GAA sources, which include the following:

GAA Learning Portal TURAS Programme Ulster GAA Portal
Camogie Association Go Games Resources Primary School Resources
Fun Do – GAA Nursery

In preparing materials for this player pathway a wide range of existing player pathways used by GAA clubs throughout the 32 counties were also reviewed.

The contributions made by members of the Cuala Coaching & Development steering group and the Cuala Coaching Unit are also acknowledged.

Cuala’s Player Pathway was launched on 21st November 2019 by Paudie Butler.
