Loreto Primary School – Cumann na mBunscoil success

Loreto Primary School, Dalkey, recently participated in the Cumann na mBunscoil Camogie Final in Croke Park and won the Corn Nua.
They also won the same competition last year. They have also played in the Football Finals and won.
This success is due to the fact that the Principle, Fiona McKenna, made contact with Cuala when she was appointed Principle in 2019.
Her daughter has played Camogie with Cuala and Fiona herself was involved with her team, in various roles over the years.
Fiona has an other connection with Camogie, her Grandmother, Agnes Purcell, was Uachtaran of Cumann Chamogaiochta, 1976-1979. From Limerick, Agnes played at a very young age for Limerick and later for Dublin while attending U.C.D. Agnes was also involved in the Post-Primary and Third Level Colleges at National Level. She reported on Camogie in the Irish Press under the pen name “Una”. Fiona’s Grandfather, Paddy Purcell, was a Gaelic Games correspondent
with the Irish Press.
This is a great success story both for Loreto Primary School and Cuala.
