Cuala members may have seen this picture in the Cuala Shop and wondered where was it taken ?

The year was 1986 and both Tom Holden and Peadar Dunne were in Australia supporting Tom’s son, Cuala’s  Mick Holden, who was representing his Club and Dublin playing for Ireland in the International Rules series.

Fast forward 40 years to 2026 and Tom’s granddaughter Aine McDonagh (daughter of Jo Holden, former Cuala camogie player and sister of Mick) along with Peadar’s granddaughter, Cuala’s Jennifer Dunne played for Ireland in the recent inaugural AFLW International match against Australia.

A fantastic piece of Cuala history and a strong connection to a historic day for AFLW.
