Nuacht Féile – Cuala 2011 U15 Boys

Cuala C Claim Féile Hurling Shield After a Thrilling Final in Thomastown

On Sunday, 17 April, the 2011 U15 Boys’ Féile reached a memorable high point as Cuala once again hosted the Féile finals in Thomastown — the third time this year the group has taken on hosting duties. The day was a showcase of what makes Cuala special: families, volunteers and mentors working side by side to create an atmosphere full of colour, pageantry and unmistakable hospitality. From the world‑champion piper to the eclectic DJ set and the generous spread of refreshments, every detail reflected the pride and unity of the community behind this team.
Against this vibrant backdrop, the Divisional Féile Hurling Shield Final saw the Cuala C Hurling Team take on Ballinteer St John’s in a fiercely competitive encounter. Building on two strong back‑to‑back victories coming into the final, all 20 squad members contributed to a disciplined and determined performance.
Cuala started brightly, working excellent early scores and taking a two‑point lead into half‑time. Ballinteer responded strongly after the break, applying sustained pressure and narrowing the margin as tension rose around Thomastown. With the game hanging in the balance, Cuala broke up field to strike a decisive goal that shifted momentum at a crucial moment.
In a gripping finish, the boys held firm under intense Ballinteer pressure and emerged victorious on a scoreline of 1–4 to 0–4. Captain Alex Kuchkovskyi proudly accepted the Shield to huge cheers from teammates, families and supporters — a moment that captured the spirit of the day.
The celebrations afterwards reflected the enormous effort that made the occasion possible. Parents and volunteers prepared pitches, put up nets, organised facilities, managed logistics, provided food and even cleaned dressing rooms afterwards. Their work ensured that both teams enjoyed a day worthy of the Féile tradition — warm, welcoming and full of pride.
This victory means the Hurling Shield now sits proudly alongside the Football Shield, as the Cuala C team completed a remarkable Féile Double — a fitting reward for a fantastic group of boys, mentors and families.
