Preparations for the 2026 season are underway and a big part of that is referee upskilling and recruitment. In January we have a number of courses for continuous upskilling, crossover courses from GAA & Camogie as well as New referee courses. We encourage every club out their to push these courses and disperse the information to your membership as we really need your support in recruiting new referees. As our membership grows we have more and more players taking up the game which means more teams meaning more games so we need to match that with more referees.

The below courses are coming up in January if you have any questions please let me know.

Dates: 

• 12th January 7pm (online) – Current Lgfa referee refresher course/crossover Course for GAA or Camogie refs looking to ref LGFA
• 19th January 7pm (online)- Current Lgfa referee refresher course/crossover Course for GAA or Camogie refs looking to ref LGFA
• 26th January 7pm (online) – Current Lgfa referee refresher course/crossover Course for GAA or Camogie refs looking to ref LGFA
• 31st January 10am to 3pm (Venue TBC) – Youth Referee Course for Go games referees aged 17 and above to upskill to ref up to u16 football & for Brand new referees who have never reffed at any level or code.

There are 2 types of courses above. Current referee refresher course/Crossover course, this is for our current group of referees and for referees who are officiating in the Men’s football and Hurling or Womens Camogie who wish to take up LGFA Refereeing in 2026. The youth referee course is for referees who have previously refereed Go Games and are minimum 17 years of age and are looking to step up to refereeing up to under 16 football. This youth course is also for New Referees of any age above 17 who wish to begin their referee career in LGFA.
