U16 HURLING LEAGUE DIV 1 – SATURDAY 17TH MAY 2014, SHANGANAGH PARK

CUALA 1- 16; ST. VINCENTS 4-10

After a totally dominant display, going up by 0-9 to 0-1 in the first quarter, Cuala’s U16 hurlers conceded 4-2 in a ‘black’ 13 minute period in the second half to eventually lose out by a goal to St. Vincents in this hugely entertaining, topsy-turvy Division 1 League match in perfect conditions in Shankill. Vincents pulled out Burke, their best player, from full-forward to midfield and put in a devastating 2-man full-forward line that caused all the damage. Cuala’s defense could not deal with the changes, and the 2-man full-forward line scored 4-2 between them during that period.

Footnote 1: Cuala stay on 6 points, 5th in the table with a game in hand.  Both Crokes and Boden lost their respective games and are on 8 points. Na Fianna are out on top with 12, followed by Vincents on 10.

Footnote 2: The U16’s contest the B Football Championship Final against Craobh Chiarán in Blakestown Road (St. Pereguines) this Saturday, May 24th at 2pm at 12:30.

Next up: After a break for the Junior Cert exams, Cuala’s U16s play Ballyboden in the League in Shankill on Thursday 19 June May at 7.30pm; then they go away to Faughs on Saturday 28th June 3.30pm.
