AFL 2

Game:  Cuala V Erins Isle

Result:  Cuala 3-08 Stars of Erin 1-07

The rising mercury probably contributed to the hot and heavy game between Cuala and Isles in Division 2 of the Senior Football League.

Once again a large crowd gathered for the arrival of the Finglas men and the Cuala support were not to be disappointed as Cuala ran out comfortable 7 point winners. This victory was very important to the team because it re-ignites their league promotion push. Cuala started brightly and some good work by James Power led to a lovely score by Ryan Scollard. Cuala had been very unlucky in recent league games but their luck turned last night when a looping shot from John Sheanon found the net. Another excellent move by the impressive Eoin Breatnach and Ronan Sweeney ended up with Sweeney crashing the ball to the net.

Halftime Cuala 2-4 Isle 1-02

Cuala started the second half brightly and a lovely pass from JOhn Sheanon enabled Niall Carthy to flick smartly into the Isles net.  With John Fitzsimons imperious at full back and Luke Keating directing the forwards as ever Cuala finished out the game to win by 7 points. Next up St Pats Palmerstown in Dalkey at 6.30 on Saturday evening.
