To All Cuala Members

It is GAA and Cuala Policy that all GAA members who play Hurling or Camogie must wear an approved and unmodified helmet. This policy is in place to ensure the health and safety of players. Details of the rules governing helmet specification are detailed as follows –

Specification for Helmets for Hurling and Camogie Players – Cumann Lúthcleas Gael and Cumann Camógaíochta na nGael Requirements

  • All players must wear an approved helmet with facial protection in all games and training
  • Approved helmets are those helmets that meet the requirements of I.S. 355:2006.
  • Helmets including faceguards should not be modified in any manner or form.
  • All players are strongly advised to wear helmets that comply with the PPE Directive (CE marked) and conform to I.S. 355:2006.

For your own safety and welfare,All Cuala Members must fully observe and implement these rules at all times.

I draw you attention to the rule that “Helmets including faceguards should not be modified in any manner or form.” To modify any helmet places the player at risk and jeopardises their health and safety. Furthermore if a player incurs an injury whilst using a non-standard or modified helmet, they may invalidate their cover under the GAA Injury Scheme.

Adult Players & Parents of under-age players are responsible for ensuring compliance with these requirements.
