Lots of the Cuala girls were in action last weekend and there were some great wins and narrow losses all round.
Our under 16s played both football and camogie this weekend. Saturday saw the camogie girls in action in Meadowvale. They had a great win over Naomh Fionbarra and are now sitting happily at the top of their league table. The footballers were not so lucky on Sunday losing out to a strong St Sylvesters side.
Our under 14s are preparing for the Football Feile next weekend and were spied doing additional training on Saturday evening. We hope they enjoy the games next weekend and wish them well.
The under 13 girls seem to be unlucky on the football pitch lately and this Saturday lost out to a strong Clann na Gael side. The girls seem to be developing all their skills but that finishing touch which counts on the scoreboard is eluding them, No doubt they’ll be concentrating on this at training over the coming weeks.
It was a very busy weekend for the 00s. They had their first Camogie league match of the season on Saturday, away to Whitehall with the girls winning a tight game by 3:0 to 2:0. Cuala has the better of the play and were unfortunate not to win by more, but the sliothar always
seemed to drift the wrong side of the posts. On Sunday, they got back to winning ways on the football front with a 3:12 to 4:2 win over O’Dwyers in Meadowvale – the first half was tight enough with Cuala just a point ahead at the break, but excellent work by the half backs in particular in the second half kept O’Dwyers quite and allowed Cuala to pull away. Any under 12 team that can put over 12 points in a game are to be watched and must surely have a bright future.
Best of luck to our under 14s in their Feile competition this week end. The girls, playing in division 1, have been drawn in a very tough group. The action takes place in St Sylvesters and the first match is at 10.30. Good luck girls.
