Junior A Championship

Game: Templogue Synge Street V Cuala in Dolphin Park at 10.30pm on Sunday 16thJune 2013

Result: Templogue 1-6 Cuala 0-10

Cuala Junior A footballers had a hard fought victory over Templeogue Synge Street on Sunday morning in Dolphin Park. When the final whistle went Cuala had chiselled out a one point victory. We opened well with two good frees from Paul James but a defensive slip allowed Templeogue for a soft goal. Cuala regrouped and four points from play, including two points from Dylan Kennedy from play, left Cuala ahead one point at 0-6 to 1-2 at half time.

We started the second half brightly and scored four points without reply. Conor Bennett, Colm Sheanon and Killian Sheanon all scored from play. But a good free from Cathal O’Giollain in the 15th minute of the second half was to be our last score. Templeogue then got up head of steam and reduced the deficit to the minimum from 4 frees. There was still 8 minutes to play. However we were not to be defeated and some excellent defending from Craig Lawlor and Colie Brock gave us the victory we deserved.

We now play Naomh Barrog in Kilbarrack in the next round.
