Our record-breaking three-team participation in Hurling Feile sets the tone for this massive weekend but first to some immediate issues.
The only excuse Cuala folk have for being late for “Luke” tonight – and its a good one – is that they’ll be out at O’Toole Park cheering on our Senior Footballers as they kick-off their 2012 Championship campaign. They take on St Brigids in the Crumlin grounds at7.15. All support welcome – then its straight back down the rocky road to Dalkey for the Luke Kelly night.
Okay then, we’ll tell you one more time, though its hard to believe there’s anyone left out there who hasn’t heard about the Minor fundraiser tonight. “The Legend of Luke Kelly“. An evening of music and craic celebrating the life and music of the Great Luke Kelly is on tonight (Fri 13th) at 8:30 in the Hall. And don’t worry about missing anything on the telly; we have a top-of-the-range 32” LCD TV to be raffled
Drum roll please. Building on the magnificent football performances a fotnight ago, the Cuala U14s now have the chance to relive it all over again – its Hurling Feile weekend. Not only are we the first Cuala group to field three teams in a Hurling Feile, we believe we are the first club in Dublin to do so. Once more we are indebted to those who have put in a huge effort to host Feile whether within Cuala, at Erins Isle or Lucan Sarsfields where our three teams will be doing battle. You can read more about arrangements here
Speaking of battles, do you hear about the battling performance by the under 15As against Ballyboden in their Div 1 clash last Tuesday? Although beaten by 3-11 to 2-9, the lads fought for 60 minutes in a bruising encounter against a much bigger ‘Boden side. Our impressed reporter even observed “Nissan Hut” people taking time out to watch the exciting encounter. Is this a first?
And lets hear it for Cian and Ros Tierney after their great performances against Carlow in the Leinster Championship last Saturday. they are now in a winner takes all Semi Final in late June against – the Cats
Should’ve mentioned this last week – but its never too late to say well done to all the participants on the Camogie First Whistle Referees Course held in Cuala recently. Exam result and certificates will be available shortly. Please ensure the contact details for the parents of the referees are passed on to mariamernagh@gmail.com. If we don’t have these details we cannot assign matches to be refereed.
We’re always pleased to draw attention to marketplace deals that are exclusive to Cuala members. The latest is a special offer is from Willie “Wag” Murray from Get Fresh Fruit & Vegetable – Ballybrack S.C. Tell him if you’re with Cuala and he’ll give you 10% discount.
Our Fire Safety Training session was much appreciated by all who attended – many finding it helpful for domestic as well as club purposes. Here’s hoping the only fire anyone in Cuala ever experiences is the one in the belly.
