We need everyone once again to support the Part 8 application for lights and back-nets in Hyde Park so we can use these pitches throughout the winter months. Its very simple. Write a short letter to the Council saying you support the application because of the benefits it would bring to Cuala and all of the age-groups who use the pitch. Address is DLRCC County Council, Planning Office, Marine Rd, Dun Laoghaire. I know you all think it would be a good idea so please show your support and write that letter.

Academy AGM is on next Tuesday October 20th at 9pm in Cuala. Parents of all Academy Children (born 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004) are invited to attend. I mentioned parking last week – back on the agenda this week.

Some inconsiderate parking last week left one person blocked in for over an hour at the Academy on Saturday morning. Folks please park sensibly.

The fundraising committee for Loreto Dalkey Primary School are organising a cake sale in Our Lady’s Hall in Dalkey next Saturday morning (Oct 17th) from 9:30-12:30. Surely those Academy players deserve to be treated with a cake after all that hard work?

Last weekend was a busy one for the Juvenile Girls Section with most teams in action. The U12s (1997s) were very unfortunate to be beaten in the camogie championship semi final in controversial circumstances against Good Counsel but well done to the U13s (1996s) on beating Kilmacud Crokes in camogie on Saturday and beating Scoil Ui Chonaill in football on Sunday to qualify for their third Shield final in a row.

This weekend the big game is the U12 Football D3 Championship final at 11.15am on Sunday in O’Tooles where Cuala take on Clann Na Gael. All support encouraged.

The U9s (2000’s) also play Templeogue Synge Street on Saturday in Busy Park and the U11s play Thomas Davis on Saturday in Meadowvale. See the juvenile girls calendar on the website for full details of all games www.calendarwiz.com/cualagirls.

U14 Girls qualified for the Championship final last Saturday by beating local rivals Foxrock Cabinteely in a thrilling game in Meadowvale winning 6-07 2-07. They now play Thomas Davis in the Final on a date yet to be confirmed. Special thanks to Katie O’Dea who played an U13 camogie match prior to this game and followed this by having a great game in goals for the U14’s.

Congratulations to the U11 Lions footballers who took poll position in Division One of the football league with a convincing 4-22 to 1-10 victory over St Judes at Clonkeen. One round of matches and a possible play off to go. Commiserations to the U11 Leopards who went down by two points to St Judes in their Division 1B decider.

Now that Loreto is back in full swing, please remember to drop at Harbour Road as opposed to swinging in to the school laneway and causing chaos. It is all of a 20 yard walk and will be good for your and your kids hearts if nothing else. The parking area in front of the school is for the use of mentors carrying equipment only. U12 boys First team Footballers earned a vital draw against Lucan last week and were unlucky not to win. Second Team were well beaten by St. Olafs. Third Team had no match.

Important Hurling Matches against Faughs and Clanna Gael this week.

Our Annual Sponsored Walk is taking place at Glendalough this Sunday, meeting at the Upper Car Park at 11am. Please give this outing all your support. U13 hurlers were outstanding against Faughs in Div 1 last week with Cian MacFhearghasa putting in a man of the match performance.

U15A’s Footballers beat St Judes in Thomastown last Sunday to reach the Shield A Final to face either Castleknock or St.Johns. Minor training for the 2010 season begins next Sunday 18th with hurling training in Shankhill (time to be advised). On Tuesday at 7pm all minors are requested to be in the hall at 7pm for a meeting and demonstration on the core /weight training programme to commence on the following Tuesday. A meeting of all minor players will take place in the committee afterwards. On the following Friday football training will commence at 6pm in Loreto Dalkey for all minors.
