Hello Cuala Patrons,

Welcome back to the Newsletter, you know the (non) summer is definitely over now. Lots of things going on but will ease you in gently this week:

  • Well done to the U15 hurlers who won their first round Division 1 Championship match against Naomh Mearnog tonight by 10 points. These bunch are in Championship mode alright having been beaten by the same opposition in the league.
  • Best of luck to Cuala’s Conor Mulally and Martin Cahalane and the rest of the Dublin Minor Footballers as they take on the might of Kerry in the All Ireland Semi Final this Sunday in Croke Park. It will be a remarkable feat if Dublin can get into both All-Ireland minor finals in the same year.
  • Cuala have 5 representatives on the Dublin U17 Hurling team in the Eugene Carey Tournament in Mallow this weekend starting with 1st match v Waterford and then Tipperary. So best of luck to Manager Willie Braine and players Sean Drummond, Andrew Murphy, Kyle Braine, Seán O Braonáin and Sean Dowling.
  • Cuala have 4 representatives on the Dublin U16 hurling panel heading to Tipperary for the annual Arrobawn tournament, Con O’ Callaghan, Donal Lane, Jake Malone and Shane Murphy.Good luck to all and to manager Maurice O’Callaghan. Congratulations also to Con O’Callaghan on winning the Gerry Reilly tournament (U16 Football) with Dublin last weekend down in Oldcastle Co.Meath.
  • There are also inter-county competitions for Dublin U15s in Wexford this weekend. Cuala lads involved include Jack Lahert, Justin Byrne, Dara Twomey,  David Ryan and Conal Kelly and managers John Twomey and JP Byrne.
  • Another key event coming up in the Cuala Calendar, the Cuala Corporate Lunch on Friday the 21st of September in the Burlington. Irrespective of whether the Dubs advance on Sunday next, it proves to be a cracking day out. Tables of 10 , €850. I will get more info for you over the coming weeks.
  • Good work going on quietly around the club e.g. brand new gym. Well done Adrian Dunne.
  • Lastly and probably most importantly,  Academy registration is on Saturday the 8th of September. If you have boys or girls born in 2005, 2006 or 2007 then you know what to do. If you have neighbours, friends or relatives then make sure they get their kids registered. The next wave of inter-county super-heroes are out  there waiting to take that first  step.

All for this week – slán
