Having beaten St. Marks comprehensively in the league, Cuala Junior As had a right scare but ultimately successful win in the Junior A Championship against the same opposition last Saturday night in McGee Park. Starting with a strong wind, the Cuala men could not capitalise and it was a good Mark’s outfit who held the upper hand with better team play and the deployment of a sweeper. After conceding 2 goals in the first half and down by 3 at half-time Cuala were in real trouble. Cue a strong 2nd half performance against the increasing breeze with far greater effort from all players and good free-taking saw Cuala taking the spoils by 4 on a scoreline of 3-11 to 2-18.
Super performances by Shane Murphy, Niall O’Dowd, Davy Cunningham and Luke Keogh set the platform with great scores taken from the placed ball by Brian Fitzgerald with Jack Behan, Andy Murphy and Eoghan Breathnach all contributing vital scores.
The Junior Ds went down to a better Na Fianna outfit on Sunday while the Junior Fs, fielding a mix of age and youth were beaten by St. Josephs OCB aslon on Sunday
