Dual Award 1 Child Coaching Course 2018
GAA have now introduced mandatory coaching standards
Under theses new rules the lead coach of every team must be qualified to Award 1 level.
The optimum time for doing and running these courses is in the winter when matches are few and far between.
The dates for this years Award 1 Child course are as follows;
Course Dates:
Wed 17th October 7pm – 10 pm
Sat 20th October 9am – 4.3-pm
Wed 24th October 7pm – 10 pm
Sat 27th October 9am -4.30pm

Course Outline
Aimed at: Coaches of Juvenile Teams (U8 – U12)
Entry Requirements:
Foundation Level / Foundation Award Course.
Course Candidates will be 18 years or over.
Candidates will need to have completed a Child Protection Basic Awareness (Safeguarding) course before certification.
Duration: 22 Hours
Course Fee: €40
Philosophy
The Award 1 Coach Education course is the second award on the coaching pathway of Gaelic games.
The course is aimed at coaches that have progressed through the Foundation Award and have experience as a Coach.
The course aims to provide Coaches with the information abilities to know how to develop players’ capacities.
It is 22 Hours in duration and covers a number of key modules, as well as Introductory and Conclusion modules.
These modules are:
- Role of the Coach
- Technical Proficiency
- Tactical Prowess
- Team Play
- Physical Fitness
- Playing Facts
- Psychological Focus
- Communication
- Lifestyle
- Rules
The focus of the course is the further development of the ‘How to Coach’ skills by placing the participant in situations that they will face as coaches -the organisation of games activities, activities to develop skill and activities to develop the various movement skills necessary to play Gaelic games.
