We would like to thank all of the Cuala students who took the time to apply for the AMGEN Bursary Award this year. Applications increased greatly, with the total number of player representation spanning across 41 teams in the Adult and Minor Sections.

Similar to previous years, the calibre and strength of submissions was unbelievably high and the selection panel was overwhelmed with the responses received.

Applicants highlighted how important their involvement with Cuala is and the positive influence their participation has had throughout. It was clear that making friends from when they first joined, the mentoring they’ve received or winning the odd game along the way has given all a strong sense of connection and affinity with the Club.

It was not an easy task for the panel to short-list just five!

Following a tough selection process, a short-list of five progressed to the final stage and visited Pottery Road this week, where they met with a judging panel from AMGEN’s Senior Leadership Team. When presentations were completed, time was taken to deliberate and focus on the challenge to select an overall winner.

Announcing the 2022 winning recipient, Tony Ryan noted how all judges were impressed by the level of preparation and how well the finalists represented Cuala in their presentations about study plans, club activities and community involvement.

The overall winning recipient for 2022 Bursary was then announced as

Maedbh Sheehan.

Congratulations to Maedbh and to the four shortlisted finalists

Hannah Hodges, Liam Ryan, Lúca Sheehan and Ruadhán MacGiolla Phádraig.
