Cuala 1-9 – Kilmacud Crokes 0-14
In spite of a fantastic display of resilience, hard work and determination our Senior footballers were narrowly defeated by Kilmacud Crokes at Parnell Park yesterday evening. Cuala were absolutely relentless throughout the 60 minutes, tackling with intensity and stopping Crokes from really getting going.
Mick Fitzsimons was like a man possessed at full back, driving everyone on, tackling anyone in the white & purple of Crokes that came within his area of control – refusing outright to let anyone near his goal.
With only a point in it going into the second half, Con O’Callaghan scored a fine point from play, while brother, Niall, brought the temperature to boiling point, cutting through the Crokes defence and slotting the ball into the net with a very clever finish to make things all square. Luke Keating ,Niall James and Conor Mullaly also contributed to the final Cuala score line.
Interviewed after the game, Michael gave a very reflective insight into what it meant for the squad and their families.
This is what it means to be a proud Cuala footballer!
