Today the club has learned of the death of Mr. Josie Murray, father of our Chairman Declan.
Josie was one of the most celebrated footballers in County Leitrim and captained the county to the All Ireland minor final in 1956. He received many awards throughout a long career with numerous appearances for Connacht in the Railway Cup. He received a unique honour as the only non Galway player on a Railway Cup hurling team in the late 60’s.
He is sadly missed by his wife Evelyn, his sons Declan, Neil and Keith, his brothers, daughters in law and many grand children. Reposing at his home in Carrick on Shannon until tomorrow evening, removal to St. Marys Church for 6.30 p.m. and burial after 12 O’Clock Mass on Saturday.
